IP Camera / Transmit Server (EKTS)
Transmit Server, as a transfer station in network, can deliver multimedia stream including video, audio, control and alarm signal from a remote IP camera to other workstations through network. That's, in a transmit server (an online computer running Transmit Server software), you can map different service ports to different remote IP cameras. So that when you visit a definite service port of transmit server, the transmit server can transfer the multimedia stream from the relevant IP camera to your workstation.
After all, the processing capability of IP camera is limited. So the maximum visitor of an IP camera is extremely limited, say 10. But the processing capability of Transmit Server is much and much more powerful then IP camera's, it enables thousands of visitors to visit it simultaneously. In this way, Transmit Server extends accessible capability of IP camera, so that we can establish multi-user accessing network surveillance system, which is widely used in large-scale multilevel network solution such as security city, bank and post office's network surveillance project.
Using transmit server to save network resources effectively
Shortage of network resource compels us to use network more effective. How to use network resource effectively in network surveillance system? We think, the Transmit Server is the best choice.
In large-scale network surveillance system, you can establish a transmit server at local surveillance center, which receives multimedia stream from remote IP cameras, and transfers to other workstations in LAN. Compared with that users directly visit remote IP camera, transmit server can consumedly reduce the load of network and save network resource.
Using Transmit Server to establish multilevel network surveillance system
Sometimes, in large-scale multilevel network surveillance system, the Transmit Server plays an most important role. Shown as Figure 3, in the organization tree of a multilevel network surveillance system, each transmit server in each level needs to receive multimedia stream from remote IP cameras, and upload them to upper transmit server. In case of no transmit server, how much network resource do you imagine will be wasted through network?
