Presently, American goverment has released a new act Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008, which has stated definite rules on lead limits and phthalate which apply to Children��s products. Details are as below:


Sec. 101: Lead limit, which apply to Children��s products under 12. (Any touchable components by normal use of misuse)

180 days after the effective date of the Act: �� 600 ppm

1 year after the effective date of the Act: �� 300 ppm

3 years after the effective date of the Act: �� 100 ppm



Sec. 102: Mandatory third party testing for certain children��s products.

CPSC will update those thirty party testing organizations and their testing capabilities which accredited by CPSC.

Sec.108: Prohibition on sale of certain products containing specified phthalates.

180 days after the effective date for the Act,any children��s toys or child care articles that contains concentration of more than 0.1% DEHP,DBP or BBP; and any children��s toys that can be placed into a child��s mouth or child care article that contains concentration of more than 0.1% DINP, DIDP or DNOP are prohibited.
