| Product Specifications | | ACTIVATED CARBON is a purified and specially processed form of Carbon from which most of the impurities have been removed. ACTIVATED CARBON is used to adsorb (attach to its internal surfaces) unwanted colors, flavors, odors and contaminants from gases and liquids. ACTIVATED CARBON is the best adsorbent as its porosity gives it a large internal surface. This porosity gives it a large internal process which is achieved by treating ordinary charcoal with steam and air heated at very high temperature.
ACTIVATED CARBON has an extensive network of internal pores of molecular dimensions within the Carbon particles which constitute an enormous surface area of 500-1500 m2/gm. In the purification process, ACTIVATED CARBON uses the so called ?an-der-waals?forces to remove one or more components from a mixture.
Although ACTIVATED CARBON can be manufactured from various raw materials such as ¡Òoal Peat, Coconut-Shell Charcoal, Lignite and Wood? Coconut-Shell ACTIVATED CARBON is preferred in many applications due to some of its Unique Properties, such as Extensive Surface Area, Intrinsic Hardness, Low Ash Content and High Density.
ACTIVATED CARBON is available for use as Extrudates, Granules and Powders. Granules can be used both in liquids and in gases. Their main advantage is regeneration capacity.
