 Product Feature | The evacuated tubes and 5cm thick polyurethane tank insulation ensure good heating performance and minimal heat loss. With well insulated piping the tank temperature will only drop a few degrees overnight during single figure ambient temperatures (oC). The heat transfer efficiency of the coil heat exchanger is excellent, ensuring rapid transfer to the cold water. Corrosion is always a consideration for any system that involves water and high temperatures. In warm environments, heavily chlorinated water can become a strong corrosive agent. We all know that salty water is also corrosive. In order to provide maximum corrosion resistance, the KQ-RSQ-I solar collector uses high quality 304 grade stainless steel for the inner tank, and high purity copper for the heat exchanger coil. To avoid metallic electrolysis and metallic corrosion in general, a replaceable magnesium sacrificial anode can also be installed. Oxygen levels in the tank are very low, and so oxidation is minimal. The frame is made of anodized aluminium, which is strong, attractive and corrosion resistant.
The advantage of evacuated tubes is that they insulate the inner tube from heat loss. This means that once heat is absorbed, it is transferred to the water in the manifold, and not lost to the outside environment. Because the water is in direct contact with the inner glass tube the heat transfer is very good. The performance of the tube itself can reach 80%, but because of the heat losses from the tank, the total system efficiency is around 70-75% (depends on ambient temperatures).
The outer casing and frame of the KQ-RSQ-I solar collector is 304 stainless steel, which provides long term corrosion resistance. The surface is matt, to prevent excessive reflection, providing an attractive finish. The tank diameter is only 470mm, so is not too large when installed on the roof. The frame is made of anodized aluminium, which is strong, attractive and corrosion resistant.
